Whatsapp introduce dark mode for both IOS and Android

After a delay of more than a year, the popular social messaging app WhatsApp finally launched its Dark Mode feature for iOS and Android users in March 3,2020. WhatsApp had been working on the Dark Mode feature for a long time and in that process, it released the beta version for both operating systems. Currently, the feature is slowly rolling out to its 2 billion users globally

“The company said in a blog post”, WhatsApp Dark Mode is designed in such a way that if you use the phone in low light, your eyes will not be stressed.

Dark mode comes in different shades for Android and iOS – it is completely dark on iOS 13 while Android 10 has a dark Gray shade. Facebook’s WhatsApp notes that it spent a lot of time researching and experimenting with its focus on two key areas for dark mode readability and information hierarchy. The former essentially ensures that content is readable by matching the app’s theme with system defaults on both Android and iOS. The second area is mostly about the individual elements in the app which are their specific colors to separate the information.

The much-awaited feature was released by the Facebook-owned app with a launch video below titled “Hello Darkness”, includes pre-release version of “The Sound of Silence” by Paul Simon.

Since this feature is still slowly rolling out to all its 2 billion users, chances are that you cannot currently see this feature on your phone. If so, you can try to manually update WhatsApp/Whatsapp Business on your phone via Google Play Store or App Store, depending on which Android and iOS device you use.
