Samsung wrapped up its latest flagship smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra at the virtual Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung’s Note is back in a large and folder avatar.
On the face of it, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 represents ultra hardware and maintains parity with the flagship of the S20 series, which the South-Korean giants offer at the beginning of the year.
Of course, this is Samsung’s first 5G phone in the country, as well as the signature S Pen stylus, which resembles the Note’s experience.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20: Specs & Features
Starting with Design and Build, The Note 20 Ultra is as wide as the Note 10 + from last year, while the height and thickness have been marginally increased from 6.8-inch to 6.9-inch to accommodate a slightly larger screen.
First of all you will get to see the huge camera bump where the cover glass is just Gorilla Glass 5. The Note 20 Ultra is the first phone to employ the latest Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and rear. This is also the first time Samsung is using a frosted finish for the back.
Both the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are powered by the company’s own Exynos 990 chipset in India.
For audio, Samsung has powerful stereo speakers and the audio quality is excellent. The audio signature is neutral and well balanced.
Cameras and Sensors
The Galaxy Note 20 has a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra wide camera, and a 64MP camera, which are listed as “telephoto”, but in fact, it is available digitally to achieve that effect.
It can reach up to 30x digital zoom, though – despite all the speed of the software, which is running in the background – the images begin to appear blurred and blurred as you move beyond 10x.
The ultra-wide-angle camera also produces very pleasing images. Corner distortion is corrected in post to stay away from the fisheye effect, while color, dynamics, and detail are as dots on the main camera.
The front has a 10 MP selfie camera, which captures details well and keeps skin tone natural. This is a wide viewing angle – the phone will automatically zoom out when 2 or more faces are detected in the shot or you can do this manually.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra supports 8K video recording at 24 fps. If you want to go 4K or below, then you will get the option of 24 FPS, 30 FPS and 60 FPS. On top of the optical image stabilization module are two levels of software stabilization that are embedded in the camera. You can take some beautiful videos with this phone.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 includes sensors like fingerprint (under display, ultrasonic), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass and barometer.
Battery life and charging
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is equipped with a 4500mAh battery that supports USB PD 3.0 but limits the Samsung device to basic 25W fast charging. You can’t buy a separate 45W adapter to get faster charging speeds for the Note 20 Ultra. The downgrade is probably in the interest of better long-term battery health.
Unlike all, the Note 20 Ultra can charge other phones via cable. Or wirelessly. But looking at the battery mileage, it definitely feels like a spray.
The flagship battery hog in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra may have UWB technology. A UWBTest app accounts for abundant static drain (12 to 41%). If this is corrected through an update, battery backup can be greatly improved.
Price & Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is priced at Rs.77,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant and 20 Ultra 5G for the 12GB + 256GB variant in India at Rs.1,04,999. It is already on sale, most notably on Amazon.
In the bonus, HDFC Bank Credit and Debit Card users get Rs. 6,000 on the Galaxy Note 20 and Rs. 9,000 on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in India.
On the other hand, the existing Galaxy phone users can avail additional discount of Rs. 5,000 under the upgrade offer. Samsung is also offering 70% Assured Buy Back Price within a period of 12 months, which is very good.
