Apple Event 2020 Highlights: Everything Announced

At the special apple event 2020, Apple announced Watch SE, Watch Series 6, iPad Air, 8th Generation iPad and some new services.

On September 15, Apple held its annual hardware event, which showcased the latest and greatest Apple toys and services. Unfortunately, the new iPhone 12 was not on the menu – but the company still showed a series of gadgets to finally hold us until the iPhone is released.

In particular, the company launched some new Apple Watch models, some iPads and updates to its services. Also talked software – with iOS 14 now finally to be released on 16 September.

So, let’s start with the Apple Event 2020

1. Apple Watch Series 6

The star of the show was Apple Watch Series 6. The newest model offers the same design as the previous generation of Apple Watches, but includes some new colors, including a navy blue and a red model.

The Apple Watch Series 6 has also added a sensor to track blood oxygen saturation, which can help the watch track to breathe and provide information about heart rate. This should improve the stellar fitness tracking features already on the Apple Watch.

The device also has a new processor called the S6 chip. This chip is said to be 20% faster than the Series 5 chip, which was already much faster for everything Apple Watch.

The new processor is always fast enough to handle altitude, to track altitude, and to have a new blood oxygen monitor.

In addition, it always has an on-display display that is 2.5 times faster than the Series 5, as well as a series of new watch faces.

The device also supports the new “Family Setup” process, which lets a device set up for a family member that does not need an iPhone to be up-to-date when they get older. 

And there are several new watch bands, including “Solo Loop”, a seamless expandable band that simply slips over the wrist without any stiffness.

In India, the Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS) costs Rs 40,900 while the Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) costs Rs 49,900.

It will also be available in India and international markets soon.

2. Apple Watch SE

As rumored, Apple also announced the budget-priced Apple Watch SE. The new device has the same overall design as the Apple Watch Series 6, which supports features such as family setup and fall detection, and has an already powerful last-generation S5 processor.

The Apple Watch SE (GPS) is priced at Rs 29,900 and the Watch SE (GPS + Cellular) is priced at Rs 33,900 which means it is more affordable than the latest-generation Apple Watch model to get.

If you want an even cheaper Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 3 is still available for $199 or Rs.20999/-

3. Apple iPad Air

The next Apple toy in the apple event 2020 is the iPad Air, the first edge-to-edge display after the iPad Pro. The device has a 10.9-inch liquid retina display with relatively small bezels around its edges.

Unlike the iPad Pro, however, the device still has Touch ID – which is located inside the power button rather than the home button. It can be said that there is no Face ID on the device.

The iPad Air is much more powerful than the previous generation model. The device features the Apple A14 bionic processor, the chip expected to power the iPhone 12, and the first Apple chip to use the 5nm app process.

According to Apple, it gives 40% CPU performance and a 30% increase in graphics performance boost over the previous generation iPad Air. The device is sure to work with third-party accessories, in that the device includes a USB-C connector.

The new iPad Air also supports Apple’s most loved accessories. You will be able to use the Apple Magic Keyboard with it, along with the second generation Apple Pencil. The iPad Air’s Wi-Fi model starts at Rs 54900 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at Rs 66900. 

The second generation compatible apple pencil costs Rs 10,900, while the Magic Keyboard is sold separately for Rs 27,900. And the Smart Keyboard Folio is available for Rs 15,900, which includes new green and sky blue colors.

The new iPad Air will be available at Apple Authorized Resellers in October.

4. Apple iPad

The new iPad offers the same design but gets the Apple A12 Bionic chip for better performance. According to Apple, the new entry-level iPad gives a 40% GPU boost over the previous generation model.

Not only this, but for the first time A12 Bionic is bringing the Apple-Neural engine to the entry-level iPad, enabling more intelligent features.

The initial price of the new 8th generation iPad in India will be Rs 29,900 for the Wi-Fi model and Rs 41,900 for the Wi-Fi + cellular model in 32 GB and 128 GB configurations.

The device will be compatible with Apple Pencil (first generation) priced at Rs 8,500 and Smart Keyboard at Rs 13,900. Smart Covers for iPad can be purchased for Rs 4,500.

5. AppleOne

Apple is making it easy to access all its services. The long-awaited Apple One subscription service lets you bundle Apple’s services into one monthly payment, saving you a little cash.

Apple One includes the softwares like  iCloud, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness + and Apple News +.

The Apple One subscription is being offered in three levels, priced at Rs 195 / month and the family plan is priced at Rs 365 / month.

The Premier Plan is not yet available in India and there is no word on when it will be available outside the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

6. Apple Fitness +

The new fitness service by Apple is announced in this apple event 2020 is called Apple Fitness +, and it still integrates with the Apple Watch Workout app to offer guided workouts showing information like heart rate, time.

Apple Fitness + is available for the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV – and when you start the video, it will automatically start related workouts on your Apple Watch.

It will also highlight data during segments, such as particularly challenging interval data captured from the Watch, which are then shown in the summary for workouts.

Workouts include yoga, cycling, core, cooldowns and more. The service will be available before the end of the year and comes to $ 10 per month, or $ 80 per year.

If you buy a new Apple Watch, you will get three months of Fitness + for free, and it is available in the premiere subscription of the new Apple One bundle.

7. Software Updates

Last but not least, Apple announced in the apple event 2020 is the latest and greatest software, with phones, tablets, watches and everything else already in place. New updates include iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, and tvOS 7.

The company is yet to announce the launch date of macOS Big Sur, which will likely be released later in the year with the new Mac model.
